The City of Dasmariñas, Cavite, Philippines
The City of Dasmariñas is a first class city in the province of Cavite, Philippines. It is located approximately 30 kilometers south of Manila. It has a population of 556,330 people, making it before the most populous municipality in the Philippines before it was converted into a city. The voting population of the City of Dasmariñas is almost equivalent to the 12 other towns of the province of Cavite. Dasmariñas is now the 11th largest city in the country in terms of population. It has a land area of 90.1 square kilometers. Dasmariñas is formerly part of Cavite's second congressional district. Last May 2010 Elections, The City Dasmariñas become the fourth legislative district in the Province of Cavite. During the Last May 10, 2010 election, Congressman Elpidio Barzaga who is previously a Dasmariñas three termed Mayor when it was still a Municipality, obtains the highest vote for the position of Congressman to represent this new legislative district in the province of Cavite. Hon. Jennifer A. Barzaga (Congressman Barzaga's behalf) also obtains the highest vote for the Mayoralty race in this Wealthy City of Dasmariñas. Dasmariñas is the wealthiest local government unit in the province of Cavite. In addition, prior to its conversion into a city, Dasmariñas was the only municipality in the Philippines that had both an SM and Robinsons Mall.
